Introduction to Air Filtration System

AXENIC SYSTEMS (established in 1995) is one of the leading companies engaged in manufacturing and supplying the Air Filtration System to carry out the decontamination process in a cleanroom. Our finest quality Air Filtration System is wisely constructed at our factory, tested at different parameters then dispatched to the client’s site. We have an in -house facility of design, production and installation of the Air Filtration System for laboratories, clean rooms and manufacturing areas.

Cleanrooms are extremely controlled environments where the air quality is observed to ensure the strict standards of cleanliness required for the manufacture of electronic, pharmaceutical and healthcare goods are met. These strict standards need high fresh air rates, extensive filtering, temperature, and humidity control.

Cleanrooms are designed according to different class specifications depending on the sensitivity levels of the production procedure. The higher the class in cleanroom the stricter the demands on air quality become and therefore the need for enhanced air filtration increases.

To ensure that a cleanroom is capable of reaching the necessary cleanliness levels, it is significant that the air supplied into the cleanroom is filtered using filters that conform to and are certified by the standards governing high efficiency air filters. These standards not only set out the efficiency standards that are needed from these air filters but they also set out the testing techniques necessary to classify these filters into their categories.

Your cleanroom filtration system is an essential part of your cleanroom, irrespective of whether it is a softwall, hardwall, modular or rigid wall cleanroom. The filtration system is essentially what keeps your cleanroom clean.

PRE-FILTERS

As their name suggests, these kinds of filters are accountable for filtering out the particulate in air before it gets to the HEPA or ULPA filters. Commonly, these remove larger particles. Using pre-filters is also an abundant way to prolong the life of your HEPA filters, as it makes the HEPA filter work less. If the filtration system has pre-filters, it’s good practice to change them about 6 times a year, or every other month. This will keep everything in the filtration system running efficiently, and will make sure that none of the cleanroom system parts past the pre-filters experience excessive contamination.

ULPA FILTERS

Ultra Low Particulate Air filters work likewise to HEPA filters, but are more efficient. Specifically, ULPA filters are rated to remove 99.999% of all contaminants greater than 0.12µm in diameter. Since ULPA filters work similarly to HEPA filters, the conservation and replacement procedures are essentially the same. The real difference is that ULPA filters are commonly much more expensive than HEPA filters, making your maintenance plan all the more important. So, make sure to schedule consistent maintenance and keep up on leak testing and leak repair.

HEPA FILTERS

Standing for High-Efficiency Particulate Air, these filters are renowned to filter out 99.99% of particles 0.3µm or larger. Maybe the most popular option, these filters – when maintained correctly, and in the right environment – can last up to 7 years before they have to be replaced. There is no set amount of time in which you should replace the filter. We recommend instead that you examine your HEPA filter, and identify the signs that point to a leak, or the potential for repair. Since every factor in your cleanroom can affect filters differently, it’s tough to give a particular time frame for HEPA filter replacement. The humidity, temperature, and air pressure levels all factor into your HEPA filter’s lifespan. So, it’s essential that you have your filter leak tested at least once every two years. If important leaks are found, sometimes they can be repaired, or you may have to change the filter altogether. The best thing to do is to make sure your filters are maintained correctly, in order to ensure the maximum lifetime for your HEPA filter.
